A bold vision for Wodens Future
The Scentre Group Woden Town Centre Concept Masterplan reflects a brave, forward-looking commitment: a willingness to think differently about how Canberra grows, so that Woden can become a vibrant, sustainable Town Centre for future generations.
As part of this brave, forward looking commitment, the Concept Masterplan proposes building heights which go well beyond the city’s current tallest buildings, ranging from low, medium rise up to 55 storeys. This range of building heights is the result of careful planning and analysis recognising the unique strengths of the site, as well as a clear opportunity to deliver on known community aspirations and needs in the Woden Town Centre.
We know these heights will feel like a change for Canberra and we welcome your feedback. The proposed heights aim to balance opportunity and ambition with responsibility and understanding of local perspectives. Our genuine goal is to create a positive legacy for Woden.
Community Benefit
Scentre Group, the owner and operator of Westfield Woden, continues to play an important role in the identity and evolution of the Woden Town Centre. In addition to enhancement of public outdoor areas, the Concept Masterplan aims to cater to community need for additional indoor uses via a new community hub.
The community hub adjoining CIT Plaza is envisioned as a vibrant destination. With potential for a café, co-working areas, art and quiet spaces, dance studios and amenities, it could foster creativity, connection and wellbeing.
The below images illustrate possible community facilities which may be included in the envisioned community hub. These images are character images only.
